Wood Species

Walnut

I think walnut is one of the most versatile and beutiful hardwoods that you can use to build almost anything,This is a great picture because you ca see the difference in colors you can get with using walnut. Its always a bit of a challenge when i make one that is strictly walnut because there is so many options on how to put it together from the color to grain structure.

Padauk

The color of Padauk is a magnificent red hardwood, which comes from Central and West Africa. It is a popular choice amongst wood workers due to its amazing color. Paired with other hardwoods the color can really emphasize the whole board.

Hard Maple

Hard Maple is creamy white hardwood with just a slight tinge of coffee color. Maple comes from the Northern USA and parts of Canada. Hard Maple can be used to accent other hardwoods or made as a whole board.

Hickory

Hickory is a hardwood from North America and is one of the toughest domestic hardwoods there. It has a nice mixture of light color sapwood along with caramel color to pick from. When different colors of Hickory are blended it can make a beautiful board, but you are going to earn it lol.

Granadillo

Granadillo hardwood comes from Central America. It's very dense and reminds me of Hickory. It has a very dark slight purple-ish accent to it. Granadillo has a very straight grain and definitive color. You can see in the picture it was used on the edges of the board to accent the Walnut and Padauk

Wenge

Wenge is another popular African hardwood.  It has a very dark brown, almost black, color.  I would compare it to a dark chocolate when it is oiled. I like to use it in boards to accent other hardwoods in the board as you can see in the picture.
